Sogenactif, a secure on-line payment solution

The safety of the Sogenactif solution is based on its use of the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption protocol, i.e. encrypted transmission of information about the transaction between the purchaser’s internet user site and the Sogenactif payment server. This technology uses a 128 bit encryption key. During a payment operation, SSL is used to encrypt the number and expiry date of a card entered on the internet user’s keyboard before it is sent to the Sogenactif payment server. It is the most widely used protocol in the world (more than 80% of seller sites use SSL) and is available on almost all internet operating software (Microsoft Internet Explorer V3.02 and later, Netscape navigator V1.1 and later,...).

Security of the SSL protocol is based primarily on on:

• embedding information about the transaction between the seller’s server and the client without the purchaser having to upload or even activate a program or additional software: all of the data are therefore guaranteed against any attempt to falsify the transaction amount.
  Encrypted transfer of the client card number to the payment server, protection against attempts to intercept the card number during its transfer on the open internet network.
  Protected storage of information about the transaction and payment on the Sogenactif payment server, protection against attacks on a seller site.
  Systematic request for authorization with immediate blockade of the transaction for many non-existent, lost or stolen etc. card reported by the cardholder to his/her bank.
