Fundraising report for 2006

Since 1999, the Maréchal Foch Foundation has carried out fundraising activities intended to improve and modernize its hospital. This provides Foch hospital, a private hospital contributing to the public hospital service, with significant support to carry out its projects. As a recognised public utility since 1929, the Foundation can be helped in different ways, which are described on the last page of the Foch Info magazine with description of the current tax benefits.

The ways in which the Foundation works to generate these collection activities are:

  • distribution of a free magazine “Foch Info” to hospital patients and donors who ask for it, sent out four times each year to 15,000 recipients.
  • mailshots to people living in districts close to the hospital.
  • partnerships created with companies and associations interested in the development of the hospital.

The ways of soliciting donations and how they are managed are carried out by the Foundation’s own resources. The Foundation’s accounts are created following the standing orders governing its activity under the supervision of the accounts commissioner, KPMG. The funds raised are paid to the hospital when it incurs the corresponding expenditure.

In 2006, the Foundation raised gifts of 883,000 €, which were broken down as follows:

  • gifts from individual people: 48%.
  • gifts from companies and associations: 27%
  • legacies: 25%

At the end of 2006, the major funding commitments for the hospital from this collection and the sums received after costs incurred by the collections and administrative costs were:

  • funding for a medical imaging instrument for the early diagnosis of cancer (PET Scan), of 50%, representing a total investment of 2,500,000 €. The 2006 fundraising efforts collected 315,000 € bringing to 652,000 € the sums raised by the Foundation for this commitment. The Foundation has planned to hand over the funds raised to date in Autumn 2007 in an evening reserved for donors.
  • partial funding of the renovation of the hospital accommodation. Bringing the accommodation up to the level of comfort desired by patients is an important objective of the Foundation as part of the ongoing extension, work for which began in 2007. As in 2005, the 2006 fundraising efforts contributed to 200,000 € Euros to this commitment.

The Foundation also paid 95,000 € in assistance to different hospital departments, 42,000 € of which were funds committed previously.

The Foundation and Hospital are very dependent on regular donor support which helps to ensure that patients have a health care of high quality. The Foundation naturally intends to continue its fund collecting activities to support hospital projects.
